Turkey Carcass Stock

My parents are now safely ensconced back in their home in Texas as of yesterday evening, with plenty of siblings to take care of them until in-home health care arrives. I’m not quite back to making new recipes to share, but with their departure yesterday I was able to get back into the kitchen today and make a huge 15-quart batch of turkey stock from the leftover Thanksgiving turkey carcass! The house smells divine right now. This will make a great base for soups and stews over the winter.

Christmas parade float

That’s my daughter practicing her “Queen Elizabeth” wave

And the float my daughter helped prepare with her friend’s family won 3rd place out of 85 floats in our town’s annual Christmas parade that was held today!

I hope to get a new recipe up next weekend. Thanks for hanging in there with me. 🙂

That’s a whole lot of stock, Kathryn. You must have been worn out.
I’m so glad to know your parents are safely home. I know that is a huge relief to you to have them secure and happily at home. It’s a cute pic of your daughter. Looks like a fun day.
Have a superb Sunday. Mega hugs!

Thank you Teagan! The stock practically makes itself, I just watch it simmer for four hours. The Christmas Parade is always a fun time. Hugs back!

Christmas parades are fun and you daughter looks cute. Having parents far away is hard , you took good care of your parents and I hope you get some time to relax.

Thank you so much Gerlinde! I am relaxing today, which is nice. (Well I’m doing laundry, but there is always laundry.) 🙂

Your stock looks fantastic and I know your house smelled wonderful. This is why, no matter where I may go on Thanksgiving, I always roast a small bird for myself. This year was no different. I used the stock to make noodle soup, tetrazzini, and risotto.

I love it when a leftover carcass is used to make stock! You could also use it to make risotto 🙂

We were out of town for Thanksgiving so no leftovers or turkey carcass. Your stock will create many delicious meals in the cold days ahead. Thinking of you and your parents, glad that they are getting better.

Yes, they are getting better day by day, thank you. Well you can always shoot for next year to bake a turkey in your new home. 🙂

I’m so happy for that. With family members two hours away, I think we will spend most holidays making the rounds at their homes for the first time in years. 🙂
